Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) Battery Recycling and De-installation Service

Federal laws require the proper recycling of batteries, gel cells, sealed lead-acid batteries, and other power equipment. Sure Power offers documented de-installation, rigging, removal, logistics, transportation, storage, and recycling services for any size or type of project.

Federal Regulations

The Mercury-Containing and Rechargeable Battery Management Act was implemented by the Environmental Protection Agency in 1996. The Act is meant to promote recycling and decrease the number of dangerous toxins that make it into landfills and groundwater. Some states have additional guidelines that companies must adhere to as well. Federal regulations mandate the documented proper removal, recycling, and disposal of commercial-grade batteries. We have taken careful steps to ensure your company is never at risk for EPA violations. We provide all documentation for the handling, transportation, and ultimate smelting of your retired battery systems. Sure Power also carries $5 million pollution liability policy to further protect your company from risk.

Removal and Replacement

UPS batteries contain toxic chemicals, including lead. Sure Power removes aged batteries while carefully adhering to federal regulations. A new battery can be installed upon request. The whole process is documented for legal purposes.

Recycling and Disposal

Once Sure Power removes and replaces a battery, we transport the used battery to a recycling facility. There, the acid in the battery is neutralized and the lead is extracted for use in new products. Any parts of the battery that cannot be reused are safely disposed of.
